Enhancing the Battlefield Experience
Many of America’s battlefields are under appreciated but we have an opportunity to change that and enhance the visitor experience. As we approach the nation’s 250th, we are preparing to unveil comprehensive, state-of-the-art interpretation at 40 Top Priority Battlefields.
We will provide the public with a customized portfolio of interpretive resources for each battlefield so that each visitor will receive a deep, immersive experience. Each portfolio includes a selection of interpretive resources — including mobile apps, animated maps, interactive signage, and more — that each particular battlefield needs for visitors to have a meaningful experience. Our programs will be more than simply informative — they will transform how people connect and interact with history.

Long overlooked, Princeton Battlefield State Park is currently undergoing a transformation. With the Trust’s acquisition of Maxwell’s Field — the very land across which General George Washington charged — new initiatives will bring Revolutionary War history to life.
Using a mix of traditional and digital storytelling, the American Battlefield Trust’s carefully planned restoration and interpretation efforts will transport guests back to that fateful morning in 1777. Restored wartime roads, augmented reality experiences, and other interactive elements will immerse visitors in the Battle of Princeton like never before. With the generosity of our donors, as well as support from state and federal partners and the Princeton Battlefield Society, this site will stand as a model of preservation and education in time for America’s 250th anniversary.

“We strive to bring people closer to historical events at the places where they happened in hopes that they can better understand or even feel them.
